Swansea based artist Philip Cheater sees a world teetering on the verge of a possible cataclysmic event. Looking back on past conflicts and the upheavals that came after, how can our cities and other environments progress? As we build higher into the sky, and our feet fall on crowded concrete our large metropolitan megalopolises have caused us to lose sight of our ecological needs. On the Brink is an installation that takes influence from the WW1 era Vorticist movement. Using heavy shapes and bold colours to illustrate our urban environments and demonstrate our progressive, unrelenting march against nature, this will be counterbalanced by a series of printed zines created by Steph Mastoris inspired by the BLAST literary magazines published between 1914/15 & the Children’s Peace Conference taking place in Swansea as a part of Now the Hero.
