Drawing From Brangwyn

National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, 6pm

Drawing from Brangwyn, is a Frank Brangwyn themed life drawing event that will take place at the National Waterfront Museum community Garden GRAFT : a soil based syllabus commissioned by NOW THE HERO in partnership with the Museum and led by the artist Owen Griffiths.

Amongst the indigenous vegetables, flowers and herbs depicted in the Brangwyn’s British Empire panels and grown within GRAFT, multiple models will pose unclothed and costumed to create a narrative tableaux inspired by the paintings; holding a variety of one minute to one hour long poses over the course of the evening. During the poses the participants will be able to hear details about the panels history read out by Marc Rees, Artistic Director of NTH/NYA and artist Lauren Heckler.

This special evening will be in two halves , the first within the garden itself and the second surrounded by museum vitrines within the warehouse gallery where details of the original panels will be projected onto the models bodies. This session is open to all, from complete novice to professional artist. There will be basic materials and easels provided but please also feel free to bring along your preferred drawing materials. This event is untutored but there will be members of staff available for tips and guidance.

Drawing from Brangwyn is coordinated by artist Lauren Heckler in association with life drawing @ elysium.
